This last Sunday we had yet another snowstorm. Mike left early for church and called and said the roads weren't too bad but to just leave a bit early. We did leave early but the snow had continued to fall since he had called and I don't think the plows had been out since right before Mike left because the roads were TERRIBLE! We slid constantly. I'm pretty good in the snow but if I hadn't been we would have come face to face with quite a few power lines. We made it about half way but then the hills began. I barely made it over the bridge that goes over the train tracks. But the next hill, we could not get over. The car made great grindy noises but we were not going to make it up the hill. I almost turned around and went home. Instead, I drove half way back home and took a longer but flatter route to church. It took us 40 minutes to get to church but we made it, just a little late.
Well it turned out it was a good thing that we didn't head home. After Geoffrey helped pass the sacrament he came in and said frantically, "I need to sit next to dad!" Three seconds later I heard the Bishop announce Geoffrey as the second speaker. Geoff and dad conferred and Geoffrey actually gave a really nice talk. He had totally forgotten and had never told me about the assignment. Here though is the ironic part. The talk was on "Being Prepared." The only thing funnier would have been if the talk was on "Remembering."
